When is GTA 6 coming to PC?
There is no official date. Rockstar has only announced GTA 6 for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, and its website lists no PC version.
On October 13, 2026, Kotaku reported on a GamesBeat story. Citing four sources familiar with Rockstar's plans, GamesBeat says the PC version is planned for the first quarter of 2027, so January to March. That would be only a few months after the console launch. Rockstar hasn't commented.
Take-Two, Rockstar's parent company, has hinted that PC matters. At its September 2026 investor meeting, CEO Strauss Zelnick said "the PC platform is becoming more and more important to our company over time". He didn't name GTA 6 or give a date.
How long Rockstar usually takes to bring games to PC
Every main Rockstar open-world game came to PC after the console version. The wait has grown over time:
| Game | Console | PC | Wait |
|---|---|---|---|
| GTA III | October 2001 | May 2002 | 7 months |
| GTA Vice City | October 2002 | May 2003 | 7 months |
| GTA San Andreas | October 2004 | June 2005 | 8 months |
| GTA IV | April 2008 | December 2008 | 8 months |
| GTA V | September 2013 | April 2015 | 19 months |
| Red Dead Redemption 2 | October 2018 | November 2019 | 12 months |
| GTA 6 | November 2026 | Not announced | ? |
An early 2027 PC launch would be Rockstar's fastest port since the PS2 era. Treat it as a rumor until Rockstar announces it. Going by GTA V and Red Dead Redemption 2 alone, late 2027 would be the usual timing.
How many GB is GTA 6?
Rockstar hasn't published the file size. As of early October, the PlayStation Store and Microsoft Store listings show no size either. Most estimates put the console install at 150 to 200 GB. For comparison, GTA V needed 65 GB on PC in 2015, and Red Dead Redemption 2 needed 150 GB in 2019.
- The 200 GB leak claim: the leaker Cyberleek says its development build is over 200 GB. That's unverified, and a development build isn't the same as the game you download. See our leak update.
- The 700 GB screenshot: it's fake. It shows GTA 6 on Xbox One, and GTA 6 isn't coming to Xbox One.
- Day-one patch: expect one, which adds to the total. Rockstar hasn't said how big it will be.
How much free space to keep
| Console | Usable storage | Room for GTA 6 |
|---|---|---|
| PS5 (825 GB) | About 667 GB | Fine. Clear 250 GB to be safe. |
| PS5 Pro or PS5 Slim (1 TB+) | About 850 GB or more | Fine |
| Xbox Series X (1 TB) | About 802 GB | Fine |
| Xbox Series S (512 GB) | About 364 GB | Tight. Clear space before preload. |
Clear the space before preload opens on November 12, so the download doesn't stall.
GTA 6 PC requirements
There are no official GTA 6 PC requirements. Rockstar publishes them only when it announces a PC version. Any list calling itself "official" right now is a guess.
The most shared rumor comes from a leaker called TREVOR4REAL: Windows 11, an Intel Core i7-12700K, an NVIDIA RTX 3060 with 12 GB, 16 GB of RAM and 150 GB of storage. It is about a year old and nobody has confirmed it.
If you're planning a PC for GTA 6, these are safe planning numbers. They are ours, not Rockstar's:
- An SSD with at least 200 GB free. PS5 and Xbox Series X|S both load from fast SSDs, so expect the PC version to need one.
- 16 GB of RAM at the very least, 32 GB to be comfortable.
- A graphics card with 8 GB or more of video memory. Rockstar's recent games are heavy on video memory.
- Windows 10 or 11, 64-bit.
Wait for the official list before buying parts just for GTA 6.
Will GTA 6 be on Steam?
Not announced. GTA V and Red Dead Redemption 2 came out on PC through the Rockstar Games Launcher, Steam and the Epic Games Store, and both need the Rockstar launcher even when bought on Steam. GTA 6 will likely do the same, but Rockstar hasn't said so. There is no PC pre-order yet.
Can I play GTA 6 on PC at launch?
Not as a PC game. If you own the console version, you can stream it from your own console to your PC:
- PS5: the PS Remote Play app for Windows streams from your PS5 over your home network.
- Xbox Series X|S: the Xbox app on Windows can stream from your console with remote play.
Both need the console and the game. Rockstar hasn't announced GTA 6 for cloud gaming services such as Xbox Cloud Gaming.
Avoid fake GTA 6 PC downloads
- No PC version of GTA 6 exists yet. Any "GTA 6 PC download", "repack" or "full build" is fake.
- Files passed around as the leaked GTA 6 build have been linked to malware.
- Rockstar doesn't sell a PC pre-order or early access. Only buy from Rockstar, Steam, Epic or another official store once a PC version is announced.
PC cheats will come with the PC version. Until then, the GTA 6 cheats for PC page lists the GTA V PC codes as a preview. We'll update this page as soon as Rockstar announces a PC date.
