GTA 6 got its age ratings on October 1 and 2, 2026. It's an adults-only game everywhere it has been rated. The table below covers each region, followed by what the ratings say the game contains.
GTA 6 rating by region
- Europe and the UK (PEGI): 18. Labels: violence, sex, drugs, nudity, in-game purchases.
- North America (ESRB): M for Mature 17+. Labels: blood and gore, intense violence, nudity, strong sexual content, use of drugs and alcohol, in-game purchases.
- Australia: R18+, for drug use, high-impact violence and sex scenes. An earlier X18+ listing was reported to be a mistake.
- New Zealand: R18.
What the ratings say is in the game
On October 2, PEGI published a detailed summary of the game's content, then took it down soon after. Press reports of that summary say:
- Violence: realistic and bloody. Some weapons can dismember. Players can hurt civilians, police, criminals and animals.
- Drugs: drug use is frequent. Cocaine can be carried and used from the inventory.
- Sex and nudity: nudity, sex scenes and strip clubs with paid private dances.
- In-game purchases: the label is listed, though GTA 6 launches without an online mode.
Rockstar hasn't commented on the pulled PEGI summary. Rockstar games have always been rated for adults, so none of this is a surprise for the series.
For parents
- PEGI 18 and ESRB M mean the game is meant for adults, not teenagers.
- PS5 and Xbox Series X|S both have parental controls that can block games above an age rating you choose.
- Leaked clips going around online show nudity. Don't let kids search for "GTA 6 leak" videos.
GTA 6 comes out on November 19, 2026, on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. The release date page has a countdown in your time zone.
